Robert N. Snyder
Chairman and Founder

Bob Snyder co-founded CIG in 1971. Bob serves as CIG’s Chairman of the Board and is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of its operating companies and joint ventures.

Bob served as owner and chairman of National Standards Association from 1976-1993. National Standards is now part of Information Handling Services, Inc. From 1977-1987 he was owner and chairman of Disclosure Incorporated, which is now part of Thomson Financial Corporation.

A civic leader, Bob currently serves as Co-Chairman of the National Council for the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. He also serves on the board of the Washington Hospital Center Foundation, the National Theater in Washington, DC and the Board of Ambassadors for Johns Hopkins Project Restore. Bob is a former Member of the Board of Governors of The National Aquarium in Baltimore and a former Associate Trustee of the Library Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania.

Bob Snyder holds a B.S. in Accounting from Babson College, Babson Park, MA and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, Brooklyn, NY. He is a member of the Bars of the State of New York and the District of Columbia. He and his wife Judy live in Chevy Chase, Maryland. They have two children and five grandchildren, Joshua, Jessie, Natalie, Sara & Sam.

James P. McGinty
Vice Chairman

Jim McGinty was named Vice Chairman of CIG in November 2004, after serving as President of CIG since February of 2000. As Vice Chairman, Jim along with Bob Snyder is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of all CIG companies.

Jim moved to CIG from CSA (now ProQuest), where he was President from 1992 to 2000. While at CSA, Jim led the company to the forefront of Internet publishing. During Jim’s tenure, CSA experienced a three-fold growth in revenue, and its customer base increased by 1200 institutions in over 30 countries.

Prior to joining CSA, Jim spent over 20 years with Dun & Bradstreet. His last assignment was Managing Director D&B North Pacific Business Information Group based in Hong Kong. Jim’s prior assignments at D&B included Field Sales Manager, Director of Product Management, VP National Accounts, VP Market Management, and VP Group Government Marketing with corporate wide marketing and R&D responsibilities in the Federal sector.

Dedicated to the industry, Jim has served on the Board of Directors of the Information Industry Association and NFAIS. Currently, he is a Board member of CIG, ProQuest, Sotheby’s Institute of Art and MarketResearch.com.

Jim holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from St. John’s University in New York and received an Honorary Doctorate from his alma mater in 1984. Subsequent to graduating from St. John’s, Jim was commissioned as a Marine Officer and served in Vietnam. He spent 21 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring as a Colonel. He and his wife Pat reside in Vienna, VA and have three grown children, Clete, Kyle and Devin.

Andrew M. Snyder
President

Andy Snyder is currently President of Cambridge Information Group and Chairman of CIG’s subsidiaries, ProQuest, Bowker, and Navtech, Inc. Andy is responsible for the management of all CIG operating companies as well as the strategic acquisition process for CIG and its companies.

Andy began his work with CIG in 2003 and became President in 2004. Under Andy’s leadership, CIG has completed more than twenty-five acquisitions and has grown at a rate of over 50% annually. In February 2007, Andy led the $200+million acquisition of ProQuest Information and Learning, and combined that business with CIG’s CSA business to form the new ProQuest. Since then, ProQuest has completed additional acquisitions including the purchase of Dialog from Thomson Reuters in July 2008.

Prior to joining CIG, Andy spent seven years at the Goldman Sachs Group, most recently as Vice President in the Principal Investment Area where he focused on traditional media, technology and services investing for the firm’s $5.25 billion investment fund. Andy began his career as an Associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department and also spent one year as the Assistant to the Chairman of Goldman Sachs.

Andy graduated cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he graduated magna cum laude. He serves on the Board of The Association of American Publishers and is a member of the Bar of the State of New York. He currently serves on the Board of the JCP in downtown Manhattan and the New Leaders Steering Committee of the New York Presbyterian Hospital. He and his wife Molly live in New York City with their children Sara and Sam.

Michael K. Chung
Chief Operating Officer

Michael Chung was appointed as CIG's Chief Operating Officer in December 2007. Michael's responsibilities include the oversight of CIG's education businesses and the execution of key strategic and operating initiatives for all of the CIG companies. He serves on the Board of Directors of CIG subsidiaries ProQuest, Navtech Inc., Institute of Art and Music Makers, LLC. Michael is also the CEO of Music Makers, LLC and served as the interim CEO of Navtech, Inc. 

Michael came to CIG from Barr Associates, Inc., the largest independent manufacturer of optical filters where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Michael implemented company-wide systems and initiatives at Barr to improve operations and accelerate growth. Michael successfully led the execution of the turnaround of Barr from near bankruptcy to a profitable company growing at over 15% annually and subsequently helped execute the sale of Barr in the fall of 2009. 

Prior to joining Barr Associates, Michael spent seven years at the Goldman Sachs Group, most recently as Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department focusing on the communications technology sector. Over his tenure, Michael worked on numerous M&A and principal investment transactions across a wide range of industries including information services, telecommunications, high technology, biotech and energy. 

Michael enrolled in the Management and Technology Dual Bachelor's Degree Program at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a B.S. in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from The Wharton School and a B.S. in Engineering. Michael holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. 

Michael and his wife Hannah live in New York City with their sons Michael Jr. and Lucas.

Jill Snyder Granader
Principal

Jill directs special projects for CIG and serves on the Board of Directors. Day to day Jill serves as director of alumni relations at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

Prior to joining CIG, she was an associate attorney at Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, until 1993.  Jill became Associate General Counsel at CIG in 1994 where she was at the forefront of CSA’s Internet-based platform. Her core product, Environmental Routenet, was one of the first products to transition data from CSA’s paper products to the World Wide Web.

Outside of her work activities Jill has  been active in providing pro bono work for CASA (National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association), a program that uses volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court and numerous charitable activities in the the Washington DC metro area.

Jill graduated from George Washington University Law School in 1992 and holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Jill and her husband Rob live in Bethesda, Maryland with their three children, Joshua, Jessica and Natalie.

David C. Levy
President CIG Education Group

David C. Levy has been CIG’s principal advisor since the acquisition of Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London in 2003. He formally joined the CIG team as President of the CIG Education Group in December 2006.

David left his home town of New York in 1991 to lead Washington’s largest private cultural institution, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and its College of Art and Design, where he served as its President and Director until 2005. Prior to leaving New York he was Chancellor of NewSchool University, a post he accepted after completing 20 years at the helm of Parsons School of Design. During his tenure at Parsons, David built it from a small school with fewer than 500 students into an international institution with an enrollment of 12,000 and a world-wide network of campuses including Los Angeles, Paris, The Dominican Republic and Japan. He also developed innovative scholarly programs in England, Italy, France, Israel, Greece and West Africa. A life-long professional jazz musician as well as an art historian, photographer and designer, David founded New York’s first degree granting school of jazz, which thrives today as one of the world’s leading jazz conservatories, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. During his tenure at Parsons and The New School he initiated and oversaw the mergers of the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles County into Parsons and the Mannes College of Music into the New School.

In the mid-1990s, while at the Corcoran, David founded and developed the Delaware College of Art and Design in Wilmington, Delaware.

David earned a BA degree from Columbia and a PhD from New York University. He is a Trustee of the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers (Scholastic Art & Writing Awards), the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and the American Federation of Arts, a founding trustee of The Jazz Museum in Harlem and a former Commissioner of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Levy was decorated as Chevalier des arts et des Lettres by the Republic of France, was named Washingtonian of the Year by Washingtonian Magazine and received the New York State Regents’ Award for distinguished service to Higher Education. He was awarded the degrees of Doctor of Fine Arts, Honorus Causa by Cedar Crest College and by The New School University. David resides in Washington, DC with his wife Carole and their son Alexander.

Betsy Hanlon
Vice President of Finance

Betsy Hanlon is currently CIG’S Vice President of Finance. Betsy is responsible for the financial management and integrity of CIG and its operating companies. Betsy began her work with CIG in October 2006, when she became the Controller of one of its companies, Sotheby's Institute of Art New York, and she assumed her current role in February 2007.

Prior to joining CIG, Betsy spent six years as a financial consultant to start-up companies and small businesses. Before turning to consulting, she held a number of financial positions with area companies, including serving as Chief Financial Officer for PerImmune Inc., a privately held biotech company, and as Treasurer and Controller of Univax Biologics, Inc., a publicly traded biotech company. Betsy began her career in the tax department at Price Waterhouse in Philadelphia.

Betsy has served for several years as a volunteer with Montgomery Hospice. She also provides financial management services to the Dunstan Wai Memorial Educational Foundation, which offers scholarships to girls in the Sudan. Betsy holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Philosophy from The College of William and Mary and she is a Certified Public Accountant. Betsy and her husband, Bill live in Chevy Chase, Maryland. They have two children, Will and Clare.

Barbara Inkellis
Senior Vice President, Secretary & General Counsel

Barbara Inkellis has served as CIG’s Vice President, Secretary & General Counsel since 1981. She has been directly responsible for overseeing and managing dozens of mergers and acquisitions as well as commercial contracts, intellectual property and human resource legal issues.

Barbara came to CIG from the law firm of Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson, where she specialized in corporate law. She previously was an associate at Bracewell & Patterson.

Barbara has been active in the youth sports community both at the high school and club level. She has managed numerous hockey and soccer teams and served on the Board of Directors of Montgomery Youth Hockey Association for 6 years. In addition, she was a member of the board of The George Washington University Law Alumni Association.

Barbara earned a B.A. Cum Laude in History from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania and a Masters in Education from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She taught U.S. History and Psychology in Montgomery County, Maryland. Barbara earned her J.D. with honors from The George Washington University, where she was a member of the Law Review. She is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia. Barbara and her husband Steve live in North Bethesda. They have two children, Elizabeth and David.

Larisa Avner Trainor
Vice President and General Counsel

Larisa Avner Trainor joined CIG in April 2005 and was promoted to General Counsel in January 2010. Larisa is responsible for all legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions, all financing relationships, tax planning and corporate compliance. She also works on a variety corporate matters, including commercial contracts and executive compensation issues, as well as managing the corporate property and casualty insurance for all of the CIG companies.

Larisa previously worked at E*TRADE Financial Corporation in their in-house legal group and spent six years at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, where she specialized in transactional and securities law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private investment funds, investment management, and corporate governance.

Larisa received her J.D., with honors, from the George Washington University Law School and her BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York State and worked for three years as an auditor with a bank holding company prior to attending law school. Larisa is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Larisa and her husband Sean live in Bethesda with their three daughters Jane, Sasha, and Mischa.

Delores Snowden
Vice President, Human Resources

Delores Snowden was named Vice President of Human Resources in 2006 after serving as Director of Human Resources since 2004. She is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the health and welfare benefit programs as well as policies and procedures of all of the CIG companies. In addition, Delores is responsible for the payroll and HR systems.

Delores began working for Disclosure Incorporated in 1971 and came to CIG via the Disclosure acquisition in 1977. Delores was the Assistant Controller for Disclosure and then CIG before changing her career path to human resources in 1996.

Delores attended the University of Maryland and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Montgomery County chapter of SHRM. She lives in Maryland and has three children, Michelle, Andrew and Spencer.

Pankaj Sharma
Business Development Associate

Pankaj Sharma is responsible for CIG’s business development with principal focus on potential acquisitions and partnerships for strategic growth. In addition, he is responsible for financial analysis and development of strategic plans for ProQuest and other CIG operating companies, including the key performance indicators or metrics that drive business results.

Pankaj comes to CIG from Bear, Stearns & Co. where he was an Investment Banking Associate responsible for performing capital structure and valuation analyses, operational and financial due diligence as well as providing strategic advice. Prior to joining Bear Stearns, Pankaj was with Bank of New York Mellon as Vice President, Business Management Group where he led teams responsible for business management and strategy development. He has over nine years of leadership experience in investment banking, strategic planning and business development in the financial services sector.

Pankaj holds two MBA’s: one from Columbia Business School with a concentration in Finance and Economics and one from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta, India with a major in Finance and Statistics. Pankaj also earned a Chemical Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India.

Pankaj and his wife Ruchika live in Jersey City, New Jersey.
